Automatic activity tracking not working

So I wanted to see what the vivoactive does with regards to automatic activity tracking. Yesterday I cycled for 12 minutes or so twice for an errand. I saw something briefly show up at the top of the app, but then it vanished. In the evening I went for a run, and afterwards the same happened. So I suppose the activity gets recognised but not saved. Where might the error be?

I looked at the garmin website and went through the list of issues. The only thing I found was that

a) I keep on setting running recognition to 3 minutes in the app, yet it reverts back to 1 every time I open that menu again. It's still at 3 minutes in the watch

b) auto pause was activated in walking. as I wasn't walking this should not play a role I think, but I switched it off nonetheless.

I'll go to the market a bit later, and this should certainly be about an hour walking. Thus it should again register. We'll see. Until then: are there other things I should check?

  • Have you looked at the heart rate graph in the mobile connect app? I get my automatically detected activities listed along the X-axis there. Same thing in the full screen daily summary screen for heart rate in the Connect web version.

  • Yep, the data isn't there and neither under activities in the app and website.

I think I got it to work now though. I mentioned above that the detection time for running was set to 3 minutes in the watch, but always reverted back to 1 minute in the app, right? I changed this in the watch to one minute as well, and at least a walk earlier today was detected. Which is ridiculous as I changed a setting for running, not walking.

  • No! Walking gets recognized. Running not! What the heck
