How many steps to clear the Move Bar?

I replied to a post on the Venu forum but I figured I would post here since I actually have an active4. It sounds like it's supposed to be about 200 steps to clear the full move bar (all 5 segments). On my watch it is a lot more than that. At least 500 maybe more. Is this the same for the rest of you?

  • The key is it's about 200 steps without stopping.

  • Thanks Jim. I am concerned because I did an experiment - my watch was at 3 bars and I walked 300 steps without stopping, including up and down the stairs twice. Not only did I not clear the move bar - shortly after I sat down it went to 4 bars Disappointed. Any advice on this Jim or ? This sounds to me like a defect with my hardware.

  • Update - well another experiment and this time the move bar did clear after maybe 300 steps. in the first test I may have paused for less than a second to open and close the door to go outside. This time after I went outside I started counting steps. If this is the case it seems like it will be quite a challenge for work at home-ers to keep it cleared. It would be more helpful to have this as something configurable IMHO.

Hello! When you are walking inside your house, are you still getting the full arm swing that you do when walking outside? The Garmin watches are designed to track repetitive walking motions as steps. Arm movement while walking will be captured by the internal 3-axis accelerometer in the watch which will record each complete swing of the arm as two steps. Usually going for a short walk for a couple minutes will reset the alert as long as the arm swing is being detected.

  • Thanks . Yes, I was able to prove this by simply standing and swinging my arm about 50 times. It cleared the alert. :)

    No problem!

  • based on which watch face you're using the move bar may only update once a minute, so you could walk almost an extra minute before you see it cleared.

  • Its Simple_lean_g2 Slight smile. What about the "clear" message the watch gives? You have cleared the move bar or something like that. Will that also get delayed?
