Battery issue

Hi,

Since the update in 5.60, the battery of my vivoactive 4S lasts 1 day.

I have to charge it every night, whereas before it lasted 5 days.

I bought this watch on January 15th and honestly I am very disappointed with this update.

Is it possible to go back to the previous firmware ?

  • What features do you have enabled? and what is the screen brightness?

My wife has the Vivoactive 4S, and she has also noticed a drop in battery life, however her battery now lasts for about 3 days when before it was a solid 7 days,

I noticed the same issue on my Vivoactive 4, but my battery life was around 8 days and now its 5.

    HR - All Day
    PulseOx - Sleep Only
    Display Brightness 10%
    Default Watch Face
and only Weather and Notification Widgets are enabled.

  • Adding for feedback :). FWIW my battery life got much better with 5.6.

  • Hi, since last night, no more battery problems! I just tried to install the 5.46 firmware (without success). It's incomprehensible! I think I'm going to reset it because I also have a completely wrong altitude value despite several recalibration attempts.

  • We have seen a positive outcome regarding the battery life after the newest update. If you are not experiencing this, can you be sure to sync the device with Garmin Express on the computer. Then unplug and hold the top power button for 45 seconds ignoring power off. Then turn it back on. If you are not seeing improvement please let me know. Also I have included the battery life specs:

Smartwatch mode: Up to 8 days
GPS mode with music: Up to 6 hours
GPS mode without music: Up to 18 hours

  • Ok thank you I will try this manipulation. However as explained earlier, my battery consumption is back to normal since last night. By the way, do you have a solution for the altimeter?

  • Hi, battery is always ok and since reset, the altitude is ok too

  • Ok update timet

It's been 4 days since I did a factory reset, and fully charged the device.

I have recorded 5 threadmil 30 mins activities and 3 strength activities per day.

    Same settings as before

    HR - All Day
    PulseOx - Sleep Only
    Display Brightness 10%
    Default Watch Face
and only Weather and Notification Widgets are enabled.

Today the battery is at 50%, usually by now it would be at 30% so this is an improvement.

Thank you for the update! Keep an eye on it and feel free to reach out to me with any changes.

  • Ok Update Time!
It's been 7 days now, and the the same settings i have mentioned before, while still recording at least 4 daily activities (Treadmill and 3x Strength exercises).

The battery is now at 10%.

I am uncomfortable having the watch lower than 20%, which leads me conclude that:

    - if you are not worried that the watch powers off due to battery it can last up to 8 days.
    - if you are like me and do not want the battery to ever go out then 7 days is the Max.
Note: these number were taken with very light usage, no GPS recording, and tweaking all possible settings to save battery.

From what have been able to scour on this forum, I assume that with default settings, and a more normal use of of the device the battery will last about 4 to 5 days (but that's just an assumption).

I can say that this new update was definitely an improvement, however i am a bit sad that to take advantage of this update improvement i had to perform a factory reset.

  • I am happy to hear that the device battery is holding up again. I am sorry you had to do the reset, this is not normally what you need to do and you should not expect to do that every update.
