How do i add open water swim as an activity on my garmin vivo active 4s ?

I have just got the GArmin vivo active 4s. And i am stuggling to track my open water swimming as it only offers pool swimming. Is there something that im missing?

Vivoactive 4 definitely used to have open water swim as an activity. I’ve used it several times. It’s gone now and I can’t figure out why.

Hello! Unfortunately, the Vivoactive 4 does not have an "Open Water Swim" activity profile. There are, however, some Connect IQ open water swim apps that you could download onto the watch and use if you would like.

I downloaded an app ‘Swimming app professional’ - only in beta stage so no charge - but seems to work well. There is a YouTube video showing how to download apps - I’m a 50+ Luddite and even I managed it. I’m so pleased as my children bought me the watch for Christmas - I love open water swimming but unfortunately I wasn’t able to use it for such. Hope this helps - good luck & safe swimming.

Why is this feature no longer provided? Why take a step backwards? When will this feature return to the device I purchased?
