Indoor rowing ANT FE-C support?

With version 13.10 the fenix6 Pro got "support for displaying metrics from an indoor rowing machine that supports the ANT FE-C profile (e.g. Concept 2 with the PM5 module). This includes new fields for the Indoor Rowing app: Distance, Pace, Power, and Stroke Distance.".

Is there any chance this will be available for the vivoactive4 series (or Legacy Saga)?

  • HI there! There are no plans currently to implement this on the vivoactive 4, this is something that our multisport watches would generally be used for.

  • To be true: When I bought the Legacy Saga (2 of them) via buy.garmin.com I filtered by activity and selected multisport. VivoActive and LegacySaga were shown there. So I expected it to be a multisport watch. Also it has the indoor rowing activity... It is just missing this connectivity via Ant+ to get the data into the activity.

I am a big fan of Garmin watches and personally am still using my Fenix3HR even.

So what I want to say:

Please file this as a feature request. Even if you count it to Health&Wellness it is still a watch used by many people on their home equipment now. Especially now...

  • When i select Multisportwatches in the shop, the vivoactive 4 is also shown.

I would have a high interest to see this feature on the vivoactive4. I own a Fenix 6 and there it is fine. But by girlfriend do not like this "oversized" watch.

  • I think the VA4/S is worth being in the multisport category. I am using mine for triathlon. It certainly lacks some features from the more expensive watches, but it can do the basics (heart rate, GPS, time, distance, speed, cadence). They would not sell any of the seriously expensive watches if the VA4/S could everything.

  • Please file this as a feature request

: Can this be a feature request? In the Garmin shop the VA and LegacySaga are both sold with multi-sport filter on... It was one of the reasons I bought 2 of those for my family.

And realistically: Even in Health and Wellness people would use Fitness devices... I guess especially in that market segment. Because such people go to fitness centers or just bought some personal trainer devices for the time during lock-down.

  • Yeah I bought the VA4 (after having a FR235). I thought the VA4 was considered multisport. If a different garmin watch can connect to C2, then why can't this one?

I'd love it if this could be added to the list of things to implement for VA4

  •  and  Can you please add this as a feature request?

  • We can submit it as a feature request but can not promise any changes will be made. Thank you for this feed back. If there were any changes regarding this you will be emailed.

  • You've been probably using either ErgIQ app, or directly importing fit files from Concept2 logbook instead. These are the only options yet, I reckon. My Fenix 5S+ has the same capability as VA4 here - this new feature is for F6 and FR945 series only.
