Vivoactive 4S battery life

I have a new Vivoactive 4S for Christmas 2020  it has about a 10 hour battery life even without any activities and all things turned off except heart rate monitor. I understand there is an engineering fix being looked at. But I want to know if there is any news? I have tried everything,  and have exchanged for a new one, same issue. Very disappointed. Garmin please help. I read older posts about same issue, said to mention

  • Are you using a Connect IQ watchface or a stock face? If you are using a stock face I'd return the watch as defective.

Stock face. Everything else turned off. No backlight. Battery went down 11%overnight. Yes but I've already returned one, this is replacement. . So might give up.

  • If battery goes down 11 percent overnight, the total battery life must surely be longer than 10 hours?

Sorry. I've had two. First one was 10 hours. Replacement came Sat, Went from 96% at 11am to 50%at 5pm.  On Sun. On Mon same. Have to give back. Otherwise love size and features. But don't want to keep trying to find one that works. Plus they make you pay a deposit.

  • Hello! Can you tell me what SW you are currently on?

5.10. Is that what you wanted?  This morning my hydration goal was reset to 0.  I leave watch on dresser at night. I didn't change it. New watch, received from Garmin Sat to replace one I received for Christmas gift.  Both new. Garmin-AmberD

Still hoping for answer Garmin-AmberD.     Also:   I have noticed my step count is very low compared to my old Fitbit Charge HR.  I can't reconcile recorded distance walking on treadmill with Fitbit either.  When I put the Vivoactive on in morning, (lays on dresser overnight) it has calories at somewhere between 480 and 680, but not worn overnight.   It zeroed out my hydration goal from 9 cups to 0 by itself.

  • Yeah, the Fitbit Charge HR is well known for counting steps when you do other things than walking. Car driving, bicycling and other activities generate lots of steps, while you get zero on the Garmin. I prefer it that way.

The Garmin watches count two types of calories. The passive ones are counting always, just by being alive. The active ones are generated by activity, and added to the total calories. For most people the passive value is higher than the active one.

But this is showing calories when the watch is lying on the dresser overnight for 8 hours, not on my wrist. I don't know why.

  • I think the watch knows you are burning calories even when not wearing it and has some sort of general algorithm based on your weight and height.
