How to add steps in manual entry?

My Garmin device needed charging so I used my Polar Ignite to complete a walk. I have all the data entered for the activity in a manual entry but I do not see a place to add the total steps taken during the walk. Garmin connect does not calculate the steps based on speed or distance so how is the movement recognized if it cannot be manually entered?

Steps are automatically recorded using the built-in accelerometer on the watch. So you really can't add steps manually.

You understand that the device is not great at capturing movement? There should be some way to correct this issue manual if it cannot be fixed otherwise.

I think a manual option would be unpopular, since it makes it too easy to cheat in step challenges.
