What is taking so long with the next update?

Hello , what is taking so long with the next update, please? When you posted ''a new update is coming soon'', i was expecting a few days, not weeks. My watch is still stuck at 5.10 with miserable GPS fixing and several other bugs that have been mentioned many times here in the forums. What is the status with the next update? I am planning to buy another watch if the problems aren't fixed soon, so I would like to know before Christmas if the waiting is worth it or not. Garmin's approach is really very dissapointing...

  • Assuming they already have a release date planned, I doubt anyone from customer support can share this information publicly.

I actually prefer they take as much time as needed with internal QA rather than pushing a release to us that performs worse than what we have (and suffer) already.

  • we still have no answer regarding SAR values and RF activity...

And yet it seems you are the only one interested with those (to the point of liking your own post asking for those values).

If the values were relevant they would be publicly available. For example they can be found online for their two-way radio devices.

  • Garmin posted ''There will be another update coming soon!'' in the paused 5.30 thread almost 2 months ago, from that time no updates, not even proper communication from Garmin staff. Meanwhile we have to settle for an expensive watch with half-baked software. Shame on you Garmin!

  • And what’s worse is this all started with 5.10 which came out ~4 months ago

  • I have returned my VA4s too and got a Fitbit Charge 4 instead. I really like it, although eventually I will buy a Garmin as the platform is clearly more sports oriented. However, the current mid-level watches (VA4, FR245) are a disgrace: BT issues, no turn by turn navigation, not even courses in the VA4, terrible app platform, SpO2 and sleep tracking are crap, interface is outdated ...

So until I find a real sports watch, the unobtrusive Fitbit suits my fitness needs and tracks my sleep, but it's not suitable for activities of more than 3 hours. That's Garmins terrain, although a found the battery life of the VA4 quite poor as well. It's not the GPS that caused the drain, but something else.

  • I had a lot more bluetooth issues with Fitbit than Garmin. Besides, step tracking and stairs counting was way off, and it did not support chest straps. The biggest drawback is that the display can not stay constantly on. With the VA4S, I get several days of battery life with GPS activities and the display constantly showing seconds. No other watches seem to be able to match this. Garmin Pay, Spotify, and heart rate tracking when swimming is an extra bonus.

  •  what is the status with the ''soon coming update'', please?

  • Considering that there's not even a new beta available, I wouldn't hold my breath...

  • Hey guys! I know its taking longer than expected on getting the update out. This is less than ideal and I am extremely appreciative of your patience while we get the update ready. As soon as its released, I will update you.
