Body Body always High (yet always low on ForeRunner 245) - No Bug Fix?

I just decided to switch from Amazfit Stratos 3 due to HR inaccuracies and their supposed FirstBeat powered coach always offering the same runs, now running into issues on Garmin.  I ended up with two as gifts and have been trying to decide between the ForeRunner 245 vs. the Vivoactive 4.

So this feature seemed to work the first day or two then I noticed that the Forerunner 245 kept staying low and the stress levels were always showing high and barely recharged after sleeping to the point where it didn't do anything in the morning.

Then the Vivoactive 4 had the opposite problem, no stress even while cursing out ("D*nk Far**k!") Fort Worth traffic this morning and arrive at work late to a meeting and low and behold body battery at 100%!

I did a soft restart on both and it didn't fix it.  Can't be a predictor since both watches are cancelling eachother out.  Do I really have to factory reset every time?

Vivoactive FW = 5.10, not sure what the Forerunners is.  I've searched this forum and seems to be a common thread with a workaround as a soft reboot or a factory reset.  Would hate to always factory reset if Garmin's dev team isn't fixing this after a year.

On another note, I was just leaning toward the Forerunner 245 because even though my first love is weights all of this FirstBeat and zone based running science I discovered is really interesting and fun to me so I'm enjoying running almost as equally now as weights.  I'll never do an Ironman and maybe a half marathon at most (just to complete) so I wasn't certain overall how valuable the Training Effect, Training Load, and Recovery times were to me.  Vivo has V02Max and that's probably the most valuable running metric I'd need.  I also like the Vivoactive look and feel better and the stair flight counter as I like to run stairs as well, but it was the Body Battery stuck low and alway showing high stress on the forerunner that pushed me over to the Vivoactive 4.  Honestly now I'm almost back to square one and had thoughts of just going to another brand, but I like what Garmin has to offer and really thought they were king of the fitness watches.  Help?

  • It's the same as with me. I have been using Forerunner 245 for several days and even while sitting at home all day, it shows a high level of stress most of the day and night, and after the night the body battery grows by a maximum of 20%

  • Thanks for the response, I'm trying a factory reset now on my Vivoactive 4.  I hope and pray this does not affect my garmin coach running plan but I know some people said one reset fixed it and they never had to do it again.  Funny how my chinese made Huami Amazfit had perfect HRV data, but was horrible as a fitness watch.

Just out of curiosity how long have you had your 245 for before the stress/body batt conked out?

  • Yesterday afternoon I did a soft reset and it seems to be back to normal. Body battery charged to over 80 overnight and I had no stress registered, only rest I have the Forerunner 245 less than a week and only the first night was fine
