Sync "other" training to vivoactive 4

I wish this could be done as well – unfortunately, after a lot of digging, I came to the conclusion that Vivoactive 4 just doesn't support workouts of type "Other". I wish the custom workouts feature were just a touch more flexible.

I ended up making a cardio workout instead and that's been working fine. The only issue is that I can't set a target HR

Do you know if it is possible to create a cardio workout with custom exercises? The catalogue of exercises is quite big, but I can't find the exercises I am looking for. 

AFAIK it's not possible for any workout type - it's the same for strength training. It has quite a long list of exercises but it's missing fairly obvious ones.

The other "problem" is that their movement/rep detection algorithm won't detect your reps if you aren't doing the exercise exactly as you're supposed to. This is kind of expected, but it also means that if the exercise you want to do is not on the list, you can't fool it into counting reps by selecting a similar one, i.e. by selecting bench press and then doing reps on the chest press machine. I suspect that's also why you can't just create custom exercises; they need to know how to count the reps.

Thanks Garmin-AmberD that certainly clears it up. As a feature request – it would be helpful for me/us if the Vivoactive 4 line could support the custom workout type, or if strength/cardio had the addition of heart rate targets (which the custom workout type has, iirc).

Two suggestions:

- Let us create custom exercises. It is properly impossible to create a library of all the exercises out there. And I would not mind if the rep detection is disabled for custom exercises. 

or

- Enable custom trainings for the vivoactive 4

I am actually trying to create trainings for HIIT workouts from YouTube. Most of the have the Intervall 40/20 seconds. I don't know what the names of these exercises officially are, so I can't find the in the list.

I tried creating a custom cardio workout with random exercises and use the note text field for the actual name of the exercise. Unfortunately the notes have to be opened manually for each exercise while the 40 seconds.

Why is it that only a few activities have the option of swiping up and choosing a workout? Surely it can't be that hard to add the workout option to other activities?. I would like to add custom interval training to my SUP activities so I get all the stroke, distance and cadence metrics but can also get the interval timing and heartrate prompts. What is the point of custom workouts if you can't add them to any activity, or even see them on your watch? Please fix this for us!
