Barometer Calibration

Does the VA4 or similar Garmin devices fetch weather data from a local weather station when calibrating the barometer?

At the coast, my VA4's sea level corrected pressure is always higher than sea level corrected pressures of local stations. For instance, my watch would read 1022 mb while local weather stations would be around 1011 or 1013mb.

Now I'm away for the weekend inland at 1400meters, and absolute pressure is 858mb but sea level corrected pressure is 1027mb. Local stations are showing 1011.

Seems odd to be consistently higher. I've seen the sea level corrected pressure jump once or twice from high values  like 1022 to 1016 after calibrating, but I don't recall if the altimeter value changed enough to justify this pressure change.
