BETA vivoactive 4 series 5.15 is now available

This update is for any users who are seeing their GPS version stuck at 0.00, or they are seeing repeated installation attempts for their GPS software. When installing this beta, please also clear any other files in your RemoteSW folder to ensure this issue is resolved.

Any users who complete these steps and still see this symptom, please reach out to us directly at support.garmin.com for assistance.

Although this software is believed to be reliable, it has not yet been released for production and should be used at your own risk.

Changes made from version 5.10 to 5.15:

Improved GPS software update procedure to potentially fix repeated update attempts
Made GPS improvements for faster time to first fix

Installation Instructions

Connect your vivoactive 4S to your computer using the USB cable.
Download and unzip vivoactive4S_515Beta.zip. Place the GUPDATE.GCD file into the \GARMIN directory of the device.
Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the watch, and wait for the update to finish.
If you would like to revert to the last public release software, place the GUPDATE_510.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder. Rename GUPDATE_510.GCD to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device. NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.

Fix the battery drain that was caused by version 5.1 - this is probably related to Garmin IQ connections, since the drain is happening when using IQ watch faces.

you better fix the crash bug and battery drain caused by the last update.

we can't use the watch anymore after this bugged update

Didn't have any problem with the GPS, got the update although.... but the battery drain got even worse with the 5.15 version. 14% in 2 hours without even wearing the 4s. Restart/reset, still the same problem.

for VA 4s the battery life got better, the gps locks faster but the accuracy got significantly worse!

After 2 days and 2 restarts and one full recharge, things seem better.

Version 5.10 killed battery in one day (20hours).
Version 5.15 screen burnin or sometimes no image at all and still same battery problem.
Factory Reset and Hard Restart does not help. At this point all I can do is to return the device.

The 5.15 has still the battery-problem.

Great now add firstbeat sleep tracking to the VA4/Venu. The forerunner 245 is the same price or even cheaper than these devices, and got way more features since launch. More firstbeat features in training metrics, etc. The logic as to why the VA4/Venu don't get these even though they are at similar price points is because it is a lifestyle watch. Using that logic, then VA4/Venu should take priority over the 245 for sleep tracking.
