Vivoactive 4s music not playing, headphones pair but don't connect

I have jaybird x3 headphones, which i have updated all firmware and reset. These initially are paired as a device by vivoactive 4s, but then fail to connect.... what the heck how does it find it, recognise it, then NOT connect? And after much resetting and turning on and off for both the watch and headphones I finally get the watch to 'connect' and the spotify music does not play. The interface and playlists show, press play button then nothing... it just times out. The ONLY reason I purchased this specific watch was so I could play music without my phone.

I had this same issue tonight, after not having a problem like this for the past six months. Very frustrating. Updated everything one by one, still had issue. Clicked on the ‘update Spotify’ and it still didn’t work. Uninstalled Spotify, then downloaded it again, and downloaded my saved playlist to the watch, and it has now worked.

  • Yes, same problem. I received a used VA3M a few weeks ago, was able to do two runs with music, and now the earbuds will not connect with the watch. I have tried two generations of Apple Airpods and MPOW X5's, all of which could connect to the watch last week. Have tried "hard reset," removing each pair of earbuds from the music settings and re-pairing, making sure each has full-charge; nothing has worked. I have not tried trading the watch in for an Apple watch, maybe that's the last remedy to try (almost guaranteed to work!). Garmin doesn't seem to have much advice to offer beyond these basic steps. They can't even figure out how to code text-boxes into their website that recognize the spelling of their own company name!
