Run records fastest mile/1K wrong

All my latest run activities I noticed that after every single one my watch showed me "2 new records". It was always the "Fastest Mile" and "Fastest 1K", but they were completely wrong and shouldn't have showed up at all.

I know already that there is a section for the records in the app where I have to approve new records so it will be recognized. But the is nothing for fastest mile and Fastest 1K, only 5K... and so on.

How can I resolve this problem? I only want to the if my records really improved!

I have noticed the same issue on my watch for during the last two weeks. If I remember well I have updated the firmware recently, not sure if it could be related to that. Is there any solution to this problem?

  • Hello! If you log into connect.garmin.com you can go to personal records on the left in the dashboard. Then you will need to either keep the record or discard it so the watch recognizes what the PR is. If a previous record was not recorded. You can click that specific activity and on the right click the gear icon and then go to set as PR. Then the watch will recognize the activities when they are beating the prior record.

Dear Amber, thanks for your help! I think your tip has resolved my problem. I have had tried before to save the record but I only now realized that under the personal records section on the dashboard there's is a filter button called 'customized list'. There I was able to activate the 1k record and what came up was my old record I did time ago which had never been saved. I did save it now. I suppose now I shouldn't be seeing any new record message on my watch if I run slower than that. Many thanks!!

  • No problem! Appreciate you letting me know it worked!

  • I was noticing this same issue. I kept getting "fastest mile" notifications even though they were slower than previous notifications. I just tried this suggestion, and it did the trick!
Maybe it would help to send a notification reminding the user to save the new record if they want to keep it. That way they don't assume the record is automatically saved.
Either way, thanks for posting this solution!
