Garmin Vivoactive 4S GPS - Running without a route

Hi!

My daughter just bought Garmin Vivoactive 4S GPS.

She asked me a question that seems strange to me - that she has to enter a route before she runs or trains?

like a pre-defined route that she is going to run 10k ....

This seems strange to me , I have a Garmin Fenix 3HR - when I go out running, might be 7 or 10k ,

I just press 'Running' and off I go - is that not possible with the Garmin Vivoactive 4S GPS ?

Yes, that is how it works on VA4S too. I don't think it even supports routes.

There must be some misunderstandiing. Surely the vivoactive 4 can do an improvised unplanned run, without the need to predefine a route or distance.

Correct - no route support
