Latest updates break communication with Garmin Connect Mobile

After upgrading to 5.0  and 5.01 beta both I lost the ability to connect to Garmin Express Mobile (Android).  The watch would say connected no GCM and the phone would say connected however it would not sync or communicate with the watch.  I tried all sorts of things including resetting the watch, powering both things down and up etc.  The only way I could fix this was to remove the watch from GCM and then add it back to GCM.  This seems rather drastic and I think has side effects.  Anyone else have this problem?  Any suggestions as to what to try next time this happens?

Yes I have exactly the same issue. I'm no fitness fanatic, more a bit nerdy! I really enjoy looking at my stats after a cycle or something. I understand there's probably a lot on at the moment at Garmin, but it's been quite a while now since the hack and these glitches still present in the system are becoming quite tiresome. My watch only syncs with my android phone correctly when I take it off and plug into the connect app via my pc.

I would love this to be fixed!

Switching Bluetooth off/on enables the connection ...... for a while, then the connection is lost again.
I hope Garmin will fix this issue soon.

    Hi All,

The above problem I had with connecting has been resolved! I removed the watch from my phone’s Bluetooth menu by ‘forgetting’ it. Then removed the watch from the connect app.

I then turned off the phone connection in the watch settings menu.

After doing this you can open the connect app, turn the watch’s phone connection back on (make sure Bluetooth is on on the phone) and the connect app reinstalls it as a new watch. All your details and info remain intact. This has worked for me and is still working now over a week later. Fingers crossed it continues!

Still no idea what caused the problem in the first place though?!

Welcome to Garmin firmware and the endless cycle of issues from poor firmware. The problem is Garmin developers. They have 2 sides to their brain. The left side where nothing is right and the right side where nothing is left.
