Garmin has just released their new sleep widget to the Fenix 6 lineup. Is the any chance that this will be added to the Vivoactive 4? Coming from a Fitbit Versa 2, if feel the sleep analytics isn’t up to par.

First off thats correct, but they introduced way more to the sleep analytics with the widget, like a score and rating for your sleep quality. Further more the sleep data is processed on the watch itself…
It could also be that some of the advanced firstbeat stuff is needed, which is more than just "buy a new watch". I wouldn't be surprised if it was added to the fr945, as it's got the same firstbeat…
Also fair points. Interestingly I also have the Samsung Active 2. In my experience I have found the stats to be comparable but that may be just me. It seems to me that it's all about what's important to…
First off thats correct, but they introduced way more to the sleep analytics with the widget, like a score and rating for your sleep quality. Further more the sleep data is processed on the watch itself rather then in the app and this is achieved by using firstbeat analytics. Last but not least they added an: end sleep? option when the watch detects movement in the morning, so you can manually end your sleep and do not have to hope that garmin is detecting it right. You see it would be a huge step up for every garmin watch.... and if you compare polar watches like the unite, which is in the same price-range like the VA4, they got on watch sleep analytics as well.
Return the watch man, this device is still in beta stage, and by the looks of the last years updates, it will continue to be so.... I have Samsung Active 2 as well, it outperforns this plastic thing (except for no VOmax atm) in every category and doesnt deliver subpar HR measurements regardless of workout mode (It got many running metrics and spot on sleep info on the watch itself) Garmin is a market hog that just clipped its competion and refuse to award its customers... Its kinda sad since there are so many people on this forum begging for help without even a reply from Garmin representatives....
I had to exchange numerous email with Garmin US Customer service until I got an answer to a simple question: Is the rf transmitter possible to turn off (i.e Airplane mode) after consulting "the enginering department" they eventually told me no...
When is this gonna get fixed!? Rf emitting devices like this are a category 2 Carcegonic substans acording to WHO.
Until Garmin fixes the cancerous leak these devices emit, I will stick to galaxy active 2 that DOES have an airplane mode...
End of rant....
Also fair points. Interestingly I also have the Samsung Active 2. In my experience I have found the stats to be comparable but that may be just me. It seems to me that it's all about what's important to you. For me the Samsung battery life was a huge issue. Also I feel like Garmin has more health info than Samsung Health and there is a Garmin PC app but no PC app for Samsung.
Let's hope Vivoactive 4/ Venu will get this as a FW update and that Venu SQ is launced with it.
I have had this watch about ten months and iPhone Bluetooth issues, much less than advertised battery life as well as dismal sleep tracking are already making to look elsewhere. I am looking at either the new fitbit sense or the Samsung active 2 I would love to hear your comparison since you have the Samsung!
how is the sleep tracking? what is the app like? battery life in reality? HR and sleep tracking accuracy? I used to look at my Fitbit sleep info every morning but don’t even bother with Garmin. I lay in bed two extra hours this morning after walking with my baby and it didn’t register me as awake until I got up, even thought I had opened the app upon walking to sync!
My main goal is health and wellness so sleep, heart health, stress, ecg, spo2, etc all are more important to me than workouts other than walking and generally being active.
Thanks in advance!
