Vivoactive 4 faces versus 3 faces?

Hi everyone, new owner here. I just switched over from a Samsung Galaxy Watch 2. I see that watch faces for the vivoactive 3 can't be used on the 4. I suspect this means the face developers have to make updates - but is there maybe some easy way as a watch owner for me to do this? I see some 3 faces that I would like to use.

I tried a search but did not find this question previously asked... but if I missed it point me to it, please.

  • The only thing I can think of is writing the developer of a said watch face and ask for an update for the current VA4.

I've also been frustrated with this. I've just gone directly to some paid faces by a developer PlayItLoud as he makes an effort with anti-aliased graphics that don't look like a pixelated hot mess on the VA4. They are all free to download but some adjustments have a pay to unlock barrier. LINK

Can't believe how terrible some watch faces look just due to obnoxious aliasing.

  • The display is different on the va3 than va4.  The va3 is 240x240, the va4, 260x260.  In the app store, there is a "contact developer" link for each app.  Use that and ask the developer.

  • I think he's using technique from  .

If you want to see some cool watch faces by Franco, check out his here.

And I believe they are all free

  • Yes! That Ranger face is my current go-to.

On a similar note - When I open the IQ store on my Windows PC (Chrome)and go to Analog Watch faces - Why can't I select only those that work on my watch. It looks like there is a Device "button" but clicking it does nothing.

  • Yes. That makes sense. Thank you.

  • With the web app store, it doesn't know which device you are looking for so it shows the apps for all device.

If you use the Connect IQ app on your phone, it knows your device and you'll only see the apps for it.

  • Well.. yes... but, it does know what devices I own. So how hard would it be for a filter to choose an owned device. It lets me filter by type of application - faces, widgets, etc. when I do a search so that filtering logic would seem to already be there.

  • What if you owned more than one, or didn't own any and just wanted to see what sort of apps were available?

A way to filter should probably be added, but it's not there yet.

  • Well it looks like if you go straight to the IQ store it shows you all faces but if you start with the Connect page and click on your device (upper right) to find the link to the IQ store - it does filter to just that device :)
