Suddenly increased battery duration

Dear all,

after the latest fw update (4.9), my VA4 is lasting much longer than before. On the average it was consuming 20% of the full battery per day, now it is around 10 - 15%, Am I the only one experiencing this?

Of course, I'm not complaining of this improvement, but I would like to know if it has something to do with the new software or not.

Cheers,

toto

  • Good to know...

    Is this with any activities?

  • I have made only one GPS activity. I will  update this topic with some more values tomorrow.

  • So, here is my final report. After the update I could use the VA4 for 112 hours using 80% of the battery. This includes 1.5 h with GPS on and several automatically detected activities.

It corresponds to an average consumption of 0.71%/h. Not bad compared to before.

    Ciao ciao

  • That is excellent news!
My VA4 is new, and all the bad news about horrid battery consumption across various device models made me quite anxious.

I wasn't getting nearly your good rate of battery consumption... however, on Monday I reset my device to factory settings due to other small issues.

All default settings typically, with HR monitor on and PulseOx off.
Brightness 20%. Duration short. Gestures off. Notifications on, duration short.
An IQ Store watch face with Seconds, steps, battery and altimeter reading showing, and the battery monitoring widget installed.

This seems to have done the trick, I think. Background consumption has improved.

I charged to 100% on Monday 9pm. Overnight I got around 0.4%/h drain with DND until 6am.
Tuesday I had a 6.7km walk with GPS (1h7min). 15K daily step total. Multiple notifications. Several minutes of user access on the watch, such like updating the hydration consumption. One Manual PulseOx measurement, just for giggles (btw, I've not gotten much variance with these readings, all manual readings up to now have been between 98% and 100%)

By 9pm Tuesday I was at 81%, and that night battery monitor stated a rate of consumption of 0.4% /h again until 6am wakeup.

I think that's pretty good. An improvement from before no doubt, as previously I was getting around 0.7-0.8% /h overnight.

    It's now 8:30am Wed and I'm at 77%. I'll update when I'm down to around 20%.

Perhaps those with issues that haven't considered a factory restore could try that.
    Battery issues are infuriating.
