Bluetooth headphones stopped working

Garmin, can you please improve your headphone pairing issues! Constant issues...

I bought JBL Reflect Mini BT headphones, as they were on the listed compatible headphones by Garmin here https://support.garmin.com/en-AU/?faq=FnVJLBvvw51RfH3OE2YUO6

These were working great without issue, up until just recently. I am not sure if it was an update that broke something.

My issues are:

1. When I try to search for my headphones with my Garmin as a music device, it does actually appear as an available device (though, seems to show as as a sensor??). But when I select the device in order to connect to it, it seems search for it for a while and then throws a message 'unable to connect to device' message;

2. After a million different tries at clearing my devices, resetting headphones, then trying to repair the device, it sometimes occasionally actually 'connects'. However, when I go to start an activity, the connection drops off. It seems this happen just as the watch starts to search for a GPS signal.

Before anyone suggests it, I have tried to completely factory restart my device. It worked once properly, and then has continued to present the same issues as above.

I bought these headphones on the sole reason that I thought I wouldn't have issues since it is a listed compatible device, but I guess that was too much to ask.

The headphones seem to be fine, as I can pair it with my mobile with no issues. So definitely something wrong with the Garmin.
