How to show steps for a walk?

When I record a walk activity, I cannot find the number of steps that were recorded for the walk.  I know the watch is aware of the steps since it shows up in the status display during the walk, but once the walk is done, I can't find the information anywhere.  I just see the pace (min/mile) and cadence.  Anyone know where I can find this information?  Thanks!

following as I have the same issue

    • On your watch go to ‘History’, select the Walk you want details for, steps are viewable towards the bottom of the ‘Stats’ list.
  • I use the CIQ data field "Steps to FIT" on my VA3. It needs to be added to a walk activity's data screen. Then it will appear everywhere. I also use "Simple Steps" to show my total steps for the day during the activity.

Can you please explain how to add the data field to the walk activity's data screen?  Is that done in Garmin Connect or on the watch?  Thanks!

  • Do this on the watch.

"Steps" are already on a data screen.  With the "walk" activity, while the activity is in progress, swipe up, and there is another data screen that has the steps of the left side.  By default there are 3 data screens set up, so keep swiping to get back to "screen 1".

Alternatively, if you want to change your data fields:

    1. long press the bottom button
    2. scroll to the bottom of the list, and hit the "settings" icon
    3. Select "activities & Apps"
    4. Select "walk"
    5. Select "walk settings"
    6. Select "data screens"
    7. Now you can adjust an existing screen, or add another screen.
