Issue with step count

I’m wondering if someone can help me… I must first also stress that I did hours and hours of research before purchasing this watch. My watch arrived this morning, and I did my first activity this afternoon which was a 7.5 mile walk totalling around 15,000 steps. Before I had gone out I had done about 1200 steps so daily total after my walk was around 16,200 or so… When I got back, The exercise itself took a good 5 to 10 minutes to sync (already that’s bizarre)  to the app and during that time I could see the step count was correct both on my watch face as well as the app. When the notification on my watch and phone popped up that the exercise had synced and was ready to view, I’m guessing it was at this stage that all the steps from my exercise had disappeared on the watch face as well as the app and they had gone down back to around 1200 as if the walk has never happened…When the notification on my watch and phone popped up that the exercise had sent and was ready to view, I’m guessing it was at this stage that all the steps from my exercise had disappeared on the watch face as well as the app and they had gone down back to around 1200 as if the walk had never happened… The weird thing is, is that if I click on the activity through the watch, I can see all the details of my activity including the approximate 15,000 steps. Why is this happening? It is pretty annoying to know I have done 16,000+ steps and yet my watch face and the app lists barely any…It is the first day with this rather expensive watch and needless to say I am pretty damn frustrated at what is happening? Please can somebody help/advise? Many thanks, Freddie.

  • Did you happen to notice a blue triangle on the watchface at any time just before you lost the steps? If so, I'm afraid your watch crashed and reset itself. That happened to me once about a year ago but my watch has been rock solid since.

Are you using any CIQ watchfaces or apps? In my case, I'm sure that was the problem as a CIQ app misbehaved.

Thank you for your response… I didn’t see any triangle however I am not sure. I had read on the forum that this has happened to some other people and that some of these watches are faulty, so needless to say I am praying that’s not the case with mine. I must confirm that I went on another two hour activity today and everything seemed fine which I was pleased about, my activity synced From my watch to the app and there was no error with the steps – they didn’t disappear/get lost this time. I did notice yesterday evening sometime my watch doing a software update so perhaps it was something to do with that, if my watch didn’t reboot that is… As I only got it yesterday, I do however find it bizarre that when I turned it on for the first time it seemingly Didn’t have the latest software update then?

With regards to the watch faces or apps, I only have a custom watch face which is a picture of mine as well as the widget which shows sunrise and sunset time that is it…

  • Maybe it was a one-time event.

If it happens again, I'd disable whatever CIQ app you have running temporarily and see if it reoccurs. There have been posts elsewhere where people believed that CIQ apps that update themselves in the background were suspected to misbehave.
