heart rate when doing activity only

Former Member

a question please (or maybe a suggestion)

why it's not possible to make the heart rate turn on when doing activity automatically.

I mean why do we have to have to turn it on manually (if it's off) before the activity, and then turn it off after that

I don't want to use my wrist hear rate all the time, I would rather have more battery that keeping this feature on.

all smartwatches turn on the heart rate on automatically when you start an activity, otherwise it will be useless, and you won't be able to know the calories burned.

however, Garmin is making this really stupid and they are basically fitness trackers before being a "smartwatch"

is there anyway to fix this? or is there anyone who can listen to us, and make this possible in a future update?

P.S: I have the Garmin Vivoactive 4S

it's really annoying me.

any help would be appreciated

  • I also have a 4s and my HR auto connects.

If i'm using an HR chest strap it detects that and asks if i want to use it, if not it just uses the watch HR.

Maybe you are using  an activity profile that don't support HR

    could you please explain more?
what kind of activity profile are you using?
when I simply start the "cardio", it doesn't turn on the heart rate automatically.
unless you mean are setting your "wrist heart rate" on "auto" which is not what I want. I want it to be off when I'm not exercising.
so could you please give me more info
    thanks
