Do I get VO2max when using cadence sensor?

Do I get Cycling VO2max measurements if I use my vivoactive 4 in combination with the garmin cadence sensor 2?
Or is there any other Sensor that can be used to get the VO2 estimation?

  • Cadence sensor is not enough. For cycling VO2 max a power meter is required, but the vivoactive 4 does not support power meters.

oh okay, thx for the answer! a bummer that even with external sensors I can buy from garmin it does not work on the vivoactive. I like the watch, the other watches don't have that much of a casual look imho (and the VA4 is not that of a cheap watch). so garmin is doing that on purpose to not enable external sensors which I give them money for anyway?

but all in all I will never get vo2max on the vivoactive 4 and have to buy a more "pro" watch?

    Correct.

If you care that much about cycling VO2 max, then yes.
