Difference between distance on Strava and Garmin Vivoactive 4s

Yesterday my son and I walked a short round. On his Strava app he walked 6,2 km. On my Vivoactive 4S I walked 5,2 km. Quite a difference for such a short walk! The route was from the Internet. On the site it also was 6,2 km. So Garmin Vivoactive does not show the right distance. How to solve this?

In my experience using phone GPS on Strava to record an activity leads to an overestimation of the distance. Probably from the GPS points 'jumping around' from the actual trail. On the other hand the Vivoactive could be at fault. If you wanted to find out just post the activities here.

Thanks for your reply. I adjusted the step size and tomorrow I wil walk a new round. W'll see. Today I had a tour with the bike and my old TomTom watch had the same distance as mij Vivoactive 4. So that was nice. I hope that walking goes also. Tomorrow I walk again with my old and new watch.
