Product enhancements in light of Covid19

There has to be millage in adding body temp monitoring to all Garmin watches going forward.

It seems many countries are talking about or actually implementing temperature monitoring in an effort to manage the covid19 thing.

Surely Garmin are perfectly positioned to add this function and maybe others being discussed.

This must have legs commercially and a decent offer up to support the current world issue.

My wife has been using your smart wearables since day one and uses it religiously. Have to say if you bought out an upgrade or new model (say based on the Vivosmart 4) I'd upgrade hers, buy one for me and indeed all members of our tribe here. is a no brainer.

Also could it be possible from a material sciences aspect to change the plastic compounds on the devices to be more anti-microble or virus resistant?

I suspect that going forward virus resistant materials will be huge for light switches, TV remotes, mobile phones, escalator hand rails, aeroplane seat frames, underground hand rails etc

And this must must open up usage aside from sports into folks interested in pro-active health?

There must me a dozen other ideas not thought of that would be massively beneficial in sorting this thing.

Worth to start a thread somewhere? Folks can drop their ideas in this growing area and Garmin can consider as they see fit?

  • And then see a spike in prices based on all these ideas and no one wants them anymore. Doesn’t fit my use case.

It will happen anyway ... with Garmin or Withings or indeed any product manufacturer. It won't come with an option moving forward.

Is not something that keeps me awake at night. I suspect I am unusual in that respect.

So given that things are going to change whether we like it or not, there may as well be informed debate into that.

Is true to say some things will have cost implications. But many not so. I cannot claim to know the intricacies of that for the Garmin product.

But what I can tell you, is that as a senior member of one of the largest Japanese consumer electronic companies on the planet, that these teams are already tasked and working. Buyers will demand it and as such you need a stable of products that meet need.

And has not fit my case to date either ... I use Garmin scales and wife the wearables. But I'd buy one if it had these health considerations and I'd certainly buy for my tribe.

I was approaching this more from the market pov and current massive conditions than me personally.
