Vivoactive (Original) Bootloop

Hey all,

I know this may not fit here, but there's no forum that I can find for the original square Vivoactive watch.

I've had an original Vivoactive smartwatch sitting in my closet for a few months, and today I've finally decided to try to get it working. However, I'm experiencing bootlooping issues! The Garmin logo flashes for a second or so, then it crashes, rinse repeat. I've tried using the Express app and web updater on my PC and the USB cable to no avail as neither recognize the device at all, and can't reset or factory reset it with the physical buttons. The internet doesn't seem to have any solutions to this that I can find.

Is this a common and fixable issue that y'all have experienced? Is there a known solution? Should I just scrap the ol' thing?

See if this helps: Force to Mass Storage

Then delete the contents of the Garmin\NewFiles folder as mentioned by aweatherall

Hey, thanks for your response!
Unfortunately I'm still having the same issue, trying to force to mass storage while plugged in via USB does make the watch vibrate and win10 does then briefly read it as a Garmin GPS device, but the second I let go of the lap button, the watch removes itself and crashes, repeating the bootloop. Thank you though, as that slight amount of difference is the most I've been able to get out of the thing all week.

Here's a search for "force to mass storage" where aweatherall has contributed. Might be something there where you can post. These are mostly in the cycling forums, so it would be easy to overlook.
