Incorrect sleep data analysis

Hello,

for me it is unclear how sleep data is interpreted.

In January I had the watch in the kitchen... There the watch tracked a full night of deep sleep, see picture. No movements, no pulse, no respiration... should have called the doctor I guess?

Last night it tracked deep sleep with me lying awake in bed, couldn't sleep at first, movements can clearly be seen. Watch does indicate deep sleep with even awake marker during that time.

Does this data make sense to you?

Can I somehow trust sleep data at all?

    no,the sleep data doesn't work

  • I have noticed the same, including unusually high movement and stress levels while supposedly in deep sleep. I basically don't trust it at all, which is sad. Coming from Fitbit, I feel like I didn't appreciate their sleep tracking enough now having something else to compare it to. I often notice that it says I fall asleep hours before I am actually in bed, or awake hours before I actually wake. It seems actually to sort of default to the "normal sleep start and end time" as my falling asleep and waking times. Does it really just go by a generic setting rather than detecting my HR, movement, etc. to know when I am actually asleep? I mean I KNOW I don't fall asleep at 23.00 exactly most nights, nor do I wake at EXACTLY 6.00 most mornings, but Garmin seems to think I do.

Interesting to hear about your fitbit experiences... I'll try to get one from a friend and test them both during sleep...

Yes, to me it really looks like just random data Garmin makes up to have a sleep tracking feature ;)

    It's worse than useless actually.

  • Sleep tracking does not work on garmin, the data is always wrong, useless. I have a cheap miband which is spot on and even records afternoon naps. I can't comprehend how garmin can mess up sleep track so badly.
