Vivoactive 4 screen colour is not black and almost grey /white !

My Vivoactive 4 screen colour is very dull , almost grey ! Why is it like this ? I assumed it was going to be black with vibrant watch face colours popping out against the black background . When I turn up or turn down the backlight it makes no difference. Indoors its particularly bad as the screen looks almost grey ! Is this normal for a new vivoactive 4 watch ? I'm actually thinking of returning it after one day of use !!!

  • Hopefully it is fine tomorrow and I can check the display in sunlight.

No need to wait for sunlight. Just use some artifical light source, like for example the flashlight in your smartphone.

  • Thank you I tried your suggestion and colours are more vivid. Maybe Ill keep the watch after all.

  • Garmin watches are for getting outdoors and being active, not so much an extension of your smartphone on your arm.

  • Yes, mine is the same and I am very disappointed as in the adverts it is much brighter, problem is I ordered it from the UK and I am in South Africa so sending it back is not really an option!

  • Garmin MIP screen has its advantages regarding low battery consumption and being very visible outdoors, but it is very dull compared to any other type of display, especially amoled. Knowing this, Garmin enhances images of its watches for marketing purposes so that they look clear, with clear blacks and reds and other colors, which is not the case in reality. In other words, you fell for marketing tactics. I kind of like MIP screen now, but it took a while for me to adjust. If you cannot seem to like it, sell or return it.
