How does garmin count active calories? Why so extreme much 1.5-2k per 5000 steps along day?

Dear all.

Subj:up to 1500-2000 per day, when I go through  5k steps only. Same problem with vivosport. I use few trackers and only garmin so severely flatters me. I can not rely on his data or I will never lose weight. I had to buy galaxy active 2 and they show 400-500kk active. I wear it on the other hand. Is there a way to adjust the calorie count on garmin?
I use it with iOS.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

  • I agree, resting calories inflated by about 500/day for me when compared to other sources

    • www.omnicalculator.com/.../rmr gives 1500/day for my height and weight
    • My scales tell me about 1350/day (no idea what source they use for calculation, but also calculate/estimate % body fat, height is manually set for me)
    • Garmin on GCM Android shows 2000/per day

I've never checked active calorie count for an activity against other estimate sources. I'd check other calculation sources for resting calories, and use lower value if trying to lose weight ... without increasing daily intake just because I've exercised a bit that day Wink
