Battery drain on the V4S - again

Hello.

i’ve had the V4S for over a week and after I charged it yesterday I woke up today with 0% battery. Rebooted the watch, charged it to 40% and after 15 minutes I’m down to 20% already.

What can I do to solve this? I have all updates. Not interested in re-installing the watch..

  • OP here. I have now used my watch for 2 weeks and charged it twice without any battery issues. I have no issues after charging it in my PC. Also back when I had this issue I solved it by turning the watch off for 10 minutes, when it got back on the draining stopped.

Now I get 5-6 days which I'm really happy about.

  • Big wow! I heave read your post right after charging from standard wall charger nevertheless I tried to turn off watch, wait 15 minutes and turn on again. Since that I am on 0.3% per hour

Waiting time after turning off is important because I tried to restart it many times without this effect

I don't believe problem is gone but hopefully I will be able to track it now, there has to be some starting point

  • I am happy you guys found a solution. I am on my 4th watch within 5 months. I hope this one works. But at this point all i am looking for is acknowledgement from Garmin that a sports watch they sell and claim upto 8 days battery life lasts like 3 days if you do sports.

  • Well, they are announcing 8 days in "smartwatch mode" . I don't know what exactly is meant by that but I would expect battery life around 3-4 day with meaningfull usage of sports and activity tracking. Till yesterday I got one and half day at max

From yesterday's 15 minutes reset I am still on 0.3% per hour, after work I will go to short run so I am curious

I notice that battery usage flucuates greatly throughout the day. It can go from 0.5% per hour to 5% per hour with no apparent reason. I have no idea what the watch is doing to be draining the battery so fast.

  • Ok so since this long restart trick I had whole day with battery usage 0.3% per hour. Then I tracked 2 hour indoor activity, which costed me 10%. But after activity it did not go back to 0.3 but reminded somewhere around 1-1.2% for another day. Another restart is not helping

It is a shame that we are not able to see real power consumption in mA or Watts, because I am not really sure if this day with 0.3% battery usage per hour was for real or just battery level indication is not accurate when battery is near maximum which would destortd the measurement

  • Exactly the same experience here, i think the battery indicator is just faulty, just after recharge it seems to drain very slow but right after recorder an activity even for 5 minutes, the battery drain is atleast twice as fast and almost no trick has a long lasting effect. These restarting tricks are also annoying, thinking about the battery drain of this watch has to take up so much brain space, makes it seem like the purchase is not even worth it.

  • So I get the 0.3% performance most of the time.  It is not a fiction.  It is just that it stays there for me for some reason.  I don't get the spikes that others get.  It is worse when I run obviously, but then goes back to 0.3%.

  • I believe you I think all of us probably have a faulty watch but it is surprising how many people are there with this "faulty" batch and also all over the world. Makes me question what kind of quality control Garmin is doing
