Connect IQ watch faces and apps don't work

I bought the watch a couple of days ago. Since then have been experimenting with installing watch faces and apps.

I am finding that most do not install corrrectly. Two digital watch faces did work but most did not. They simply show up as blank screens with no graphics.

It is frustrating because the faces/apps are meant to work with Vivoactive 4. Am I doing something wrong? The process seems very simply so I don't see how I could get it wrong.

By the way, I tried restarting the device and it did not make any difference.

I would be interested whether anyone else has had the same experience of if it is unique to my watch.

  • Make sure you are running the latest firmware on your watch (4.00).  Check under "about" on the watch itself.

    There's an issue where the app store will allow you to install apps where your watch doesn't have the minimum required firmware, and you'll often see an "IQ!" error when that happens, but there could be what you describe too.

    Thank you. That worked. 

    The watch updated when I first got it and I assumed Garmin Connect would have updated the firmware to the latest version. Obviously that was not the case.

    Everything works now.
