Hr doubles during activity

My vivoactive 4 measures rest pulse very accurately 44 to 48. when I exercise it is about 60, but the watch shows 120 to 140. I take beta blockers and have some irregularity but not always, but the watch always shows about 2 times higher  HR. Even just when I select activity the rates goes up very fast even before I start excercising. Are some oher experiancing this.

  • I observe strange differences between kinds of activities - bike is quite accurate but running/walking/pilates/weight lifting/etc are way too high.

  • Same here. Cardio abnormal: Up to 170. With the Instinct 100-120max. Bike quite normal. Walk also much too high. Rest heartrate between 50 and 55 is ok. At the gym during 30 second rests 120 and more.

I have just begun to wonder if something like this is happening with the Cycling activity for me. I have a neurological disorder that causes tachycardia and exertion intolerance, and I use a wheelchair. I use my vivoactive to keep an eye on my heart rate to make sure it doesn't get too high, and it seems pretty accurate most of the time. But whenever I start a Cycling activity, which is what I use for outdoor trips in my wheelchair (can't create custom activities so I just chose the one with the closest name lol), it shows heart rates of 130-140 when I can tell my actual heart rate is only 100 or less. I have a theory that the heart rate is increasing proportional to acceleration: if I accelerate in my chair, it seems to go higher, whereas it drops when I deccelerate. Is the algorithm trying to be smart and approximate what my heart rate would be if I was *actually* cycling?

  • I have lots of cycling activities with different equipment:

    Vivoactive 4 FW4
Edge 820 with Vivoactive 4 broadcasting heartrate to the Edge
    Instinct FW 6.51
Edge 820 with Instinct broadcasting heartrate to the Edge

I had the same track with these 4 setups several times, and there are no significant differences in heartrate.

But I have abnormal differences in CARDIO and WALK. In CARDIO about 20 to 30% of the workout in the 'death range'. I'm not concerned about that, 'cause I have comparism with the Instinct and this must be an Issue of the VA4.
