Vivoactive 4 won't charge

My Vivoactive 4 has not accepted a charge the past 2 days.  I put it on the charger and the little battery icon shows up but it doesn't actually ever charge.  I've tried holding down the top button for 12 seconds until it clears and then trying again and that doesn't work either.  Any suggestions for remedies?

  • Update - Garmin Support is replacing the unit, their troubleshooting didn't do anything.  In case anyone finds it helpful, here are their troubleshooting steps:

    Plug device into charger cord.

    While holding the upper button, plug the cord into a computer USB port (not a charger).  After 30 seconds, release the button.

    Of course, this did nothing for mine and there were no other steps to try.

    It did not work for my bricked Vivoactive 4.

    I had a triangle on the face of my watch that was already dead. It wouldn't go away. I followed this and it did. After releasing, I held the button again and the watch powered on!

    It stopped charging for a few days with that triangle on the face. What was the issue? The hack worked this time. But I'm worried if I should get it replaced before warranty runs out?

  • it worked for me, thank you. I could see the triangle but it would not switch on while plugged into the regular charger. Had to move to laptop.

    I had the triangle and tried every charging plug and socket i had. I thought my garmin was broke i googled my problem and read your post. I just want to say a big thank you

    I just got my watch in May 2020. From shoppee. Is there any warranty if I buy from there Mine? Mine couldn't charge since last night.  I tried on laptop but is still same. Do I keep repeat this process?
