Battery draining 20-25% per day

I bought VA4 about a week ago, fully charged it to 100%. Pulse ox off, notifications off, gestures low sensitivity, timeout fast, brightness 10%. Used Garmin watch face.
Had one 30 minutes cardio session, otherwise on smart watch mode the whole duration.
Battery drained to 5% in 4 days. No way near 8 days advertised. I chose the watch for battery life.

I tried Venu 2 weeks ago and I got 6.5 days battery life with same settings as above, however the screen gestures didn’t work when lying down exercising on the floor. Had to sit up right of it to respond.

Any experiences with Vivoactive 4 battery, has Garmin responded to this issue?

  • I advise (from my own experience):
    1. disconnect bluetooth connection mobile - vivoactive 4
    2. connect to another mobile phone

... check the battery (should be ok)

After that, reconnect to back your mobile.
Turning off bluetooth on my mobile also helps me.
The problem is the bluetooth connection. Especially to Iphon. In my case.

  • Hi there,

I did a lot of testing with my Vivoactive4 since I bought it and once I was almost acquiesced with battery life 3 days at maximum with standard usage, it was frustrating, because same as you, I chose this watch because of battery life

After some time I came back to testing, did  factory reset, did not install anything and tried to measure battery life. (simply by excel sheet I did not even installed battery monitor application). And guess what: more than 8 day battery life. After couple of charging cycles I slowly start to install some applications one by one and watched battery life. You would not believe how some apps can affect battery - even data fields!

One problem I still investigating is that battery is drain faster after recording first activity in every charging cycle but it seems even this behavior was caused by one of my data fields but I'm still not sure about that. Nevertheless right now I have similar setting to you, third party watch face, couple of widgets, no third party data field. Without recording activity I am between 7 to 8 days battery life and with no third party data field it seems it wont be much worse even with activity tracking.  Today I was cycling 1.5 hour with actvity tracking and GPS on and it costs me only 6% of battery

  • Same issues! I’ve had this one for about 6 weeks. I’ve tweaked and turned off functions, same as the ones you’ve mentioned. My previous cheap Forerunner 25 lasted well over 2 weeks easily. I knew this one has way more bells and whistles, but I expected better battery life than what I’m getting.  My husband has the Forerunner 935. He’s an ultra runner and his will last anywhere from 8-13 days before he actually charges it; and he wears his daily to work everyday.
