what's the benefit of wifi? and can I disable it to save battery life?

I did connect the watch to my wifi, but I can't figure out what's the use of it?

Garmin Express can't recognize the watch until it's cable connected to my pc, so the wifi have no use with this one.

also syncing seems to use the BlueTooth, not the wifi, and I'm not using Spotify or Deezer.

so what's the use of the wifi then?

and if I can turn it off, will it save battery life? if so, how to turn it off?

  • If wifi is connected, it will use it to sync, and even pull down FW updates (much faster than through your phone).  But wifi is only on when it's being used, so right after you save an activity it will turn on to sync your activity or if you manually turn it on.  So it's rarely actually on in your case.

Like GPS it's only on when it's needed.
