Bluetooth connection problem vivoactive 4s

Hi, I have a problem with my new vivoactive 4S. It's not connecting with the phone ( i tried with 3 phones with iOS and Android). I restarted both, Garmin device, telephone, connect app. I restarted the Bluetooth connection, I made all the steps in the guide. I have also download the Garmin Express app, the connection with the watch is ok so I made the system upgrade to 3.8. It also not helping with no Bluetooth connection. When switching on for the first time, according to the steps of the watch, I install the application on the phone, then select the device, enter the code in the application and wait (it was the one and only time when six-digit code appears). The message "completing vivoactive 4s configuration setup" appears. The loading bar does not move and after a few minutes another message "Pairing error" appears. The next time I try to connect my watch to my phone, the "=" sign does not appear on my watch, only three dots loading. Nothing changes, the phone cannot see the watch at all.
I will add that both phones have current software, the application is up-to-date, I turned off, turned on devices (watch, phones), turned off, turned on Bluetooth, nothing has changed. I have downloaded and installed the watch software update via "Garmin Express". I returned to the initial settings, deleted all data. With no effect. Did anyone have a similar situation and know how to solve it?

  • Contact someone in product support at Garmin. had the same exact problem with my new Vivoactive 4s! I did somehow eventually get it to pair with my phone, but it wouldn’t stay connected to bluetooth. It randomly disconnected and I would have to start all over to try to get it to pair and connect. I finally contacted Garmin support after 2 days of struggling with it. After going through all the trouble shooting steps with her with no success she said my watch is defective. She offered to put in an order to replace it, but I opted to just return it to the store.

Thanks for the answer. Good to know that, unfortunately, but there are such defects. I will call them after the new year, now they have a holiday break. Thanks for the reply once again

What happened to us was that the Android phone's Bluetooth grabbed the Vivoactive 4S before the Garmin Mobile app. This prevented the app connecting. In the phone's bluetooth setting were a number of MAC addresses, the numbers with six pairs of letters and numbers. If you enter the first six of these in Google and look for MAC lookup, you can see which device is a Garmin. Get the phone to forget this device which you now know is a Garmin, try the app again and success!

This is quite a common Bluetooth issue. Extra bit of geek knowledge - the first six letters/ numbers (it's hex, base 16) denote the manufacturer, the last six are unique to the device. Great for a pub quiz if the pubs ever reopen.

Similar solution here. I had my Vivioactive connected to an iPad AND an iPhone. When I deleted the connection with the iPad, the connection with the iPhone worked much better.

  • This helped for me: unpair/forget device, empty bluetooth cache, turn off bluetooth and turn on bluetooth then pair device again.

  • The final solution that worked for me was to enable all Permissions for the Connect app in android.

  • This worked for me! I have an apple phone that out of the blue stopped talking to the watch. I did FORGET THIS DEVICE on the phone and it immediately reconnected and could speak to it! Thanks guys!!! :) :) :)

  • Thanks! This fixed the problem for me!
