Good experience with my 4s

I have a 4s since 4 weeks.

At the beginning, reading the forum, I was a bit concerned that in fw3.6 there were many issues.

The battery drain, the led blinking etc

Actually, the battery drain wees indeed a bit surprising. 3 days without recording an activity.

It went better during the first 2 weeks, let's say 3,5 days battery duration. I upgraded then to fw 3.8.

Then I tailored the device:

BT off

Wifi off

Pulse ox off

IQ move on

Back light 10%, is enough for me

No alerts etc, I don't need that

Auto lock

Hr monitoring on

Face watch with all the data I look at: steps, floors, battery, digital clock, calories, hr

During night I observe 2% battery drain

The sleep time start is always off, since I usually sit on the couch watching TV or reading before going to bed. I just need to edit the timing afterwards. I think , in that sense, the watch works fine. It finds me standing still, so after 10.30pm he assumes I'm sleeping.

The blinking after activity, doesn't really bother me. The watch will stay on my wrist after an activity,  and I set the hr to be on always, so in my case it's continuing doing is job.  Actually I recently have done an activity and afterwards , while taking a shower, 30 min after stopping three activity,   I took out the watch and wasn't blinking at all... so might be a temporary effect. Maybe the sw needs some data buffer before stopping the blinking.

Anyway,  now with my setup, I have reached 5 days of battery, and still 22% of charge.

Not so bad

I tested everything - it is bluetooth - after using bluetooth for some time it sometimes randomly goes from ~0,3 - 0,5% an hour to 2 % an hour. To stop the drain it is not enough to turn off bluetooth, I have to restart the watch.

Even with custom watchface with seconds, high brightness, alarms, lots of playing around I have nice battery life... With pulse ox it is less but still impressive!

    .

Possible reasons for sporadic BT (phone connection) battery drain:

    • Maybe an issue with walking out of BT range of my phone? If just turn on bluetooth for syncing and after that I turn BT off again (without restarting watch) and I am fine!
    • Maybe BT battery consumption goes up rapidly after my phone looses the internet connection?
    •  Problem with my phone?

BT Firmware has to be improved I guess!
