Unable to get a GPS lock

Since last week my Vivoactive 4 is unable to get a GPS lock. The issue grew bigger over a few days. At first it broke off GPS tracking during activities, so I was left with 3km GPS logs on 5k runs. Then for a few times it wouldn't complete the 'Waiting for GPS'-status when starting an activity but actually did record a GPS track. And now it doesn't get a GPS lock at all. Not on activities, not when starting Navigate.

I think the problem started just after upgrading the GPS software version to 2.60. The watch is running SW 3.60. I'm wondering if my watch is faulty or if it is a software issue that more people encounter.

After Spotify not syncing, the VO2Max not updating, the HR sensor continiously blinking and now this... I officially regret choosing this watch... I hope Garmin will fix this soon, but I'm not so sure they will, so far every new update broke more than it fixed... :(

  • That doesn't sound good :( The gps is working fine on my side, same sw and gps data. If no one else confirms similar problems and resetting the watch won't change anything - then it's probably some hardware failure.

  • Resetting the watch did not help, still no GPS lock possible. So I called Garmin support and they are going to replace the watch. They also suspect it's a hardware failure..

I hope when I receive the replacement Garmin will have ironed out all the other bugs that have being going on for way too long now with this device...

  • Hopefully there won't be any new bugs when you get a new device ;)
