Is hiking a native app on the Vivoactive 4?

I'm thinking no, because I haven't seen anywhere that it specifically is..... but it does have a compass and altimeter..... so I'm hopeful. I can't afford a Fenix and I don't want the Instinct. Looking for something that might fit the bill - affordable but give me the data I need from the watch.

take a look at dwMap. I think you can with that. I draw a breadcrump trail of the hike as it progresses.

No, it's only a native activity on higher end devices.

But..... I have an app that will record a hike, with all the data you probably need. In Garmin connect it shows as a hike, and there are many options.

With the app BeFitter Hiker Map (befitter.de) it's possible to upload GPX routes, but I haven't tested it yet

I just tested it and uploaded a planned route as well as a GPX route in BF Hiker - it works!
