has anybody figured out what to do? i just got this watch as well, same issue.

i've updated the software. connected to my computer. the whole 9

i've tried this indoors, i've tried this outdoors.

  • Mine is First Avenger on 3.6 (latest FW).  It takes about a minute, which is longer than my Fenix 6 devices, but it does this consistently. REPORT YOUR ISSUES TO GARMIN VIA SUPPORT EMAIL!

  • I've been on a chat with Garmin support and they've told me to leave the device outside with a clear view of the sky for 30 minutes before using it the first few times.  A quality device right there. If this doesn't work it's going back but thought I'd let anyone who is having the same problem know.

  • Hi, did it work at the end? I'm having the same trouble

I left it outdoors with "waiting for GPS" for 15 minutes or so the first time and it eventually connected, it now connects faster. In less than a minute usually, just the initial one takes a while and requires you to be outside.

  • Hi, try power off, and then power on watches

  • Yes it did, as mentioned below take it outdoors, after that I've found it connects pretty quickly.

  • I had the same problem when i used my VA 4 as a regular watch without connecting it to the phone for 3 days. After making phone connection and syncing, gps problem disappeared and now it connects rapidly. Try connecting it to your phone via bluetooth and sync your data via Garmin Connect and leave it connected at least 30 min. Then try GPS again.

  • Hi. Same problem for me. I made a ticket to Garmin Support. It seems like my watch does not have any gps-software installed. Se attached picture.

I use Garmin Express on my laptop and Garmin Connect on my phone.
