Screen back light

Any way to configure that VA4 turns screen back light only when needed? Now is turning it on even on the sunlight and unnecessary drains battery.

bump - i would also like to know how to do this. during the day, i don't see the need for a backlight at all unless im somehow in the dark. i would even prefer it to only light up when i tap the screen…

Turn the backlight gesture off and it will only light up when you tap the screen

is the option on the watch or in the garmin app? i couldn't find it in the garmin app.

That's already off. My question was how to prevent screen back light to turn on when using the watch during the day/enough light. Not night.

You can't, there is no light sensor. Turn the wrist movement off and set backlight to 10-20% which is enough for the dark. That wont reduce battery life.

Well, it will reduce battery life. Maybe not much but it will. Especially if the watch is constantly used to scroll up/down, set sets during workout, etc. All that, does not require backlight at all. If is not night, of course.
