Does VA4 support recovery time? LTE version?

Hi. Just switched from VA3M to VA4 I also use VS4. Beside some nice improvements(body battery, pulse ox, custom response messages..) I was hoping recovery time will be supported on this watch. It isnt. Is there touch screen smartwatch from garmin as an alternative with recovery time supported? (i think this is just software limitation, cannot understand why 245 model for the same price has support for this feature.) Expect this feature I miss only real LTE on this watch. Are there any plans for LTE (but I dont mean verison). Thank you very much.

Is not the recovery time feature only a software question? Is Gamin going to add this feature in the software updates?

  • Every Garmin watch I've ever owned for the last 15 years always supported recovery time. I'd be very surprised if the VA4 doesn't. Are you sure you're waiting the full 2 minutes from the time you manually stop the activity?

I will check it out when my colleague is back as she cannot find the recovery time anywhere in the VA4 menu...

Here's some info on "recovery heart rate value after each activity"

  • If it is like the VA3 the recovery time is displayed after stopping an activity IF you wait the 2 min before hitting save. However, it doesn’t record it anywhere, so you can look at it later or follow trends. Slight frown

Gents, thanks for your clarifications. On my 5FX, it can be displayed on the Watch Face but we could not find a possibility to display a recovery time on the VA4 watch face neither anywhere else. Now I am a little bit disappointed as I recommended her to buy the VA4S and now she miss this helpful feature.

  • I think the question here is about estimated time to recover before a new activity, not how fast the heart rate drops. And the VA4 does not support that.

My colleague´s concern is how long should she rest after her run. She does not go into such details about her heart rate droops or something. She would like to have a kind of guidance how much time she should rest after her particular runs.

I can't believe this is a hardware limitation. Garmin, please introduce this as a software/firmware update to VA4 because there's no logical explanation why an old school feature is missing (which requires no specific sensors that VA4 is lacking).

  • The VA4(S) could do most things the Fenix series can do. But if Garmin enabled it in software, they would not sell as many expensive Fenix watches. I guess the VA4(S) already has at least as many features as other watches in the same price range.
