Can a vivoactive 4s reply to WhatsApp notifications

My girlfriend and I have just purchased wearable devices, mine is a Garmin Venu and hers is a Garmin Vivoactive 4s. I see the option of replying texts / WhatsApp message notifications on my Venu but for some reason can't see the option on hers. Both devices are running the latest software and are connected to identical Honor 10 android phones. I also set both devices up at the same time so the process was carried out the same.

Is there something I'm missing as from what I can tell the Vivoactive 4s should be able to reply to texts...is that exclusive to texts or should it include WhatsApp messages?

  • I can reply to whatsapp messages and text messages, I have the vivoactive 4. 

  • I spoke to Garmin customer support who claims its not possible to reply to WhatsApp using the Vivoactive 4s but it can reply to text messages! Seems absurd that something with the hardware capability and obviously the software ability to do something so similar has been limited from WhatsApp! If it is the case I'm seriously annoyed with their decision.

  • I find that strange, as I thought they were meant to be identical, I would not of been happy if I got the 4s in that case. 

  • In the connect app I go to settings - smart notifications and at the bottom whats app is there to check 

  • She gets notifications and the options to mark as read / dismiss etc just no reply. I'll have another look later to make sure she hasn't fudged it up somehow just incase lol. 

  • Hmm it seems like she can't then if the other options are there..... I've just had a firmware update for my watch an hour ago wonder if that would sort it

  • I found the solution! She had her WhatsApp contacts and group chats with emojis in the name. When I deleted the emoji it allowed replies!

    Not impressed that the first garmin customer service person I spoke to said this wasn't a feature available on the 4s as that was a blatant lie! 

    Glad I got there in the end and have informed Garmin of this issue in case it's something that can be fixed or at least to make them aware so others can sort this issue faster than myself. Even went through the process of unpairing the device from her phone and reinstalling all software etc before I worked it out. Nevermind!

    Hi, please can you help me. I have just bought the 4s and I cant reply to whatsap or text even though there are no emojies. Is there another setting you did?
