Okay, did you go through the steps and acquire a GPS signal with the watch?

Yes I did that, I also recorded a walk around the block using an acquired GPS signal.  It still hasn't made a difference.  The only change is to version Garmin Connect 4.40

Okay what software version is your watch on? Do you leave the Garmin connect app open in the background of your phone? If not, please try to leave this running in the background of your phone 

I'm using software version 6.00, GPS version 2.50, WiFi version 2.50, TSC version 2.00, ant/ble/bt version 6.11, sensor version 3.20, whr version 20.03.31 and connect IQ version 3.2.0.

Yes I have the Garmin connect app running in the background and regularly sync between the phone and watch

Okay, checked location and it is set to "allow all the time"

Just done a hard reset by holding the power button until switched off.  Turned the watch back on after a good minute and the weather widget is working again.

No problem! Glad to hear it!

I had same issue. Just turned off my garmin and left for a minute turned it back on and hey presto weather app is now working.  Amazing ear wigging other people's conversations what you can learn. Thank you
