Garmin vivoactive 3 music no vibration after upgrade to 5.9

When I had version 5.81 I had no problem. I upgraded to 5.90 and the clock no longer vibrates. I also upgraded to version 5.91, but I have the same problem. Does anyone else have this problem?
Does anyone know how I can get back to version 5.81?

I put 5.81 on We Transfer since you cannot download it directly anymore.

It will implement 5.90 if you sync and you lose all date if you move to older versions. Just to be aware ;-) Only for experimentation I guess.

  • Thank you very much! I put it in the Garmin directory, as I did in version 5.91, but it doesn't install it. do you know another alternative?

  • The GUPDATE.GCD (which is 5.81) I assume in the \garmin directory. It should work. I have not tried to backflash but I have seen another user that did it for GPS

    see: https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/healthandwellness/f/vivoactive-3-3-music/234288/gps-not-getting-a-lock-i-suspect-the-problem-is-sw-5-80

The guy there went back in release as I understood. Did you try on the watch settings-> system-> software update ? (always wondered why that was there actually ;-)

  • I can't install the old version 5.81.
When I manually upgraded to version 5.91, the installation started automatically after I disconnected the clock from the computer. After copying version 5.81 to the garmin directory, I disconnected the clock from the computer. But the installation of version 5.81 has not started. When I check the settings, version 5.91 remains. Version 5.90 can be installed instead of version 5.91. But 5.81 I can't. :(

  • Did you try to install 5.80 ? It is included in the zip file. If that works you can apply 5.81 I hope. I think the guy went back to 5.60 even I can share that zip as well if you like.

    Zip of 5.61 Beta : https://we.tl/t-EWLAVrKsWW

Maybe a bug in 5.90 that you cannot downgrade, lol.

Normally I would try to see if it works for me, but I hate to lose my settings again (have reset the damn thing often enoguh for other glitches).

  • I also tried version 5.61. not working :(
    I don't think I'm doing it right.
After copying the version to the Garmin directory, do I need to do anything else? I disconnect the clock from the computer and wait for it to upgrade automatically. so I did with version 5.91 and it worked. I did the same when I returned to version 5.90. and it worked

  • I think you are doing it right, unzip the file, extract GUPDATE.GCD, put it in \GARMIN and disconnect. That is what it says in the readme, The other guy went from 5.81 to 5.60 so I guessed that downgrading would work, not a clue why it fails. Like I said, I never back flashed so no experience here.

  • I installed version 5.60, but the vibrations still don't work :(
I don't know what to do with them :(
The phone vibrates only when I open it ...

  • Does the vibration work when you adjust the level ? Settings-> System -> Vibration -> high (actually anything different from what it says now) ? I get vibration on 5.91, so it still works technically at least you can check that.

Perhaps the upgrade reset some settings ? Damn I wish I could help you out. It seems like it is not directly related to 5.91 since it also fails at lower versions now. The other thing to try is a hard reset (button in 15 sec until it shuts off) or a factory reset. You can go back to 5.91 since you shown that software level is not the issue it seems.

  • vibration does not work when I adjust the level Settings-> System -> Vibration -> high
the vibration only works when I open the clock

    Thank you very much
    I will upgrade to 5.91 ...
