Golf Distances Well Out

Playing golf today and the yardages were miles out on my watch! I have my watch set to Golf - Yards, and Units of Measurement - Statute UK but still couldn't get near to the yardages marked on the course (Trump International Scotland)

No idea why the distances were so far out? Any ideas? If it had been displaying metres it would have been a smaller number than 46?!!

Such a shame because every other aspect of the watch is superb... it just doesn't do golf yardages nearly accurately enough.

It might be meters, although the numbers don't look like that.

Golf uses the generic settings for units of measure, ignores the specific settings to yards. See :

It also depends if the course tells you the distance to the front or the middle, a 3 m difference to the front is more then I expect, but would depend on how many sattelites it uses. I usually get a 1-2 meter difference to the front if I use the courses distances (not sure how precise they are actually :-). I know that our garmins (G10 and Va3M are pretty much agreeing on the distance within a meter. Our Golfbuddy typically had 1-3 meters difference. For me this is close enough ;-)

Second thing would be to ask Garmin to update the information for the course (if other courses do show the correct distance). If the course was altered recently the data could be outdated. I play on multiple courses and never noticed a huge delta in distance.

I've had a hunt for the yardage book and it suggests that the distances in the book are to the front of the green, so maybe you're right about the fairway markers too... would make more sense.

If I get the chance to play there again I'll check it out!
