Vivoactive 3 stopped charging and completely dead

I bought my VA3 2018 July and it was working flawlessly for an year. It stopped charing recently and was completely dead. I checked with Garmin local dealer and they confirmed that there's no issue with contacts or the charging cable. After further inspection, they confirmed that regulator ic on the internal board has been completely burnt and said that they are in no position of repairing such as the Garmin won't facilitate such repairs. I have been using my original samsung phone charger to charge my watch all this time.

Im realy dissappointed with Garmin since my watch became completely useless at end of one year usage. I wish Garmin or someone else would help me to figure this out. Thanks.

You are aware that Garmin doesn't include a charger in the box right ? Besides, this is a lame excuse, the charging circuitry in phones and devices are able to handle small variations in voltage for example…

I see nothing in ther user manual referencing specs for a power source. How would one know if the their power source voltage/amperage is too much? It does say "Plug the large end of the USB cable into a USB port on your computer". Is it realistic to assume a computer USB port is the only acceptable way to charge it?

Agreed. You should bring that up with Garmin.

You are correct. It only provides the information I listed earlier. You can always contact Garmin and recommend your suggestion.

manufacture doesn't want to repair, they prefer customer to buy a new one..

My wife and I have both sent a watch back for a refurbished one. Both of them now work flawlessly. There was no issue from Garmin whatsoever

People under a certain age think that the cable alone is called a charger, lol. For the record, the CHARGER is the part that plugs into the wall. The CHARGING CABLE is the part supplied by Garmin in the box.

It sounds like you used a Garmin charging cable, plugged into a Samsung charger. This should be ok, but I am always cautious with fast chargers. USB is pretty smart, that's why you can use the same cable for charging and data. It should be able to tell the charger which amperage to charge at. I don't think this is your fault unless you used a non-Garmin charging cable.

He said he used the Garmin charging cable. To my knowledge, there is no Garmin charger and they advise they you can use your phone charger + Garmin charging cable.
