Turn of auto-save and prevent accidental cancel/save of activities on GarminVenu

Hi,

Please can your developers TURN OFF AUTO-SAVE for the Garmin Venu. For example when I am running, I often (manually) stop my activity to do a warm-up/warm-down, ask someone for directions, go for a quick coffee, soak up the view - however after a few minutes of my watch being on 'STOP', it thinks I must have finished my activity, so it starts counting down saying 'WOULD YOU LIKE TO AUTO-SAVE in 5 SECONDS?' - I DO NOT WANT this feature, I keep losing my activities because of this. Please turn auto-save OFF.

Similarly, when I have paused an activity it shows a screen saying 'swipe-up to cancel this activity or swipe-down to save'. This is great but again, when I have stopped for a coffee or a catch-up in the middle of my activity, I have to make sure I 'LOCK' my screen, otherwise if something accidentally brushes against my watch it risks saving or cancelling my paused activity without me meaning to. Could this 'cancel/save activity' screen also be reviewed please because it is a massive headache for touchscreen watch users such as myself. What would be better is if I could pause my activity and REST ASSURED that it will not try to auto-save, save, or cancel WITHOUT me deliberately doing so.

MANY THANKS.

  • Can you use Auto Pause instead of stopping the activity? Also, did you see this possible solution?

If you end up getting two activities, there are tools that let you combine two activities.

  • I think using the auto pause feature might help you with this.  I use this on walks so if I stop to talk to someone or stop for any other reason it simply pauses and when I start moving again it automatically starts back up.

But, yes I do know what you mean, if I press pause, then after 2 minutes it shows me my recovery heart rate and prompts to save or delete.

  • We need it. It's a nonsense default behaviour. When I pause activity manually I want to end it manually. I don't want to have any more work to merge activities manually if they are stopped accidently by my watch.

  • I can’t believe there aren’t more posts here! Anytime you are on a bike ride and stop for coffee or something. You might have been riding for six hours and are nowhere near home. Please Garmin remove this feature or let us choose

  • Same here! It’s highly annoying and the only thing I don’t like about my Garmin watches. The last 3 have all had this stupid and badly designed „feature“. Why can’t Auto Save at least be configured or deactivated.
why don’t Garmin even mention is it talk about it. What’s the point of it even?
The most annoying part is the loud beep at the end to let you know you’ve lost your activity and it’s too late to save it. The tone are the start of the count down is too gentle to hear.
if they just swapped those two it would be something

  • While this is currently working as designed. I am not sure if a new change as such will be implemented on to the Venu, However, I'd highly advise that you submit this as a suggestion to our Ideas Portal

  • Really? Some odd actually designed hhe feature in? Insure we'd all love to hear the logic behind ruining the product's ability as an activity tracker.
