3rd party watch faces lag

Have you got laggy 3rd party watch faces when wrist is raised? It takes probably 3 secs to display turn on....

  • hi peter, but always on display is possible only during activity, am i right?

No within settings display you can choose "always on" and this applies to the watch as a whole (watch face, in activity, etc...)

  • And? Where are the differents to the Matrix-VA4 Watches? There are no lags known

  • Understand.

And what about the always on display?

Besides the extra battery drain, I read about it can cause screen burning.

Is it a fact in Venu?? In manual it is written that there is a technology that minimizes this olead bad feature.

  • To avoid that the amoled screen burns in there are techniques used as changing the intensity of pixels, in my watch faces I additionally move the time every minute for extra safety.

Where are the differents to the Matrix-VA4 Watches?

The va4 does not have a amoled screen.

  • You are the Data Lover watch face developer, right?

I like a lot your watch face.

    Thanks

  • No. On the Venu, you can set the watchface to always on by long pressing the lower button, then scrolling down and tapping the gear icon, then scrolling down and tapping "System", then tapping "Display", then "Timeout" and then selecting "Always On".

Please note that typically only a subset of the watchface will show in Always On mode until you raise your wrist or press a button.

  • Okay, I have stumbled across a kind of hack to make certain 3rd-party watchfaces quite snappy to show when activating the wrist gesture. I have tried it with two different 3rd-party watchfaces. First, select a watchface from the ConnectIQ store that is compatible with the Venu (duh)--but one that does not have an AOD version of the face AT ALL. Two that I know fall into this category are the "Face It" custom face creator that you find as a tab at the bottom of the ConnectIQ app, and "NoFrills" which is actually one of my favorite faces. Install it, and then set the Display setting on the Venu to Always On. There will be no face that shows, since it isn't supported. However when you activate the wrist gesture, the watchface will show, and quite quickly! Anyway, try it out to workaround the lag that 3rd party watchfaces have otherwise on the Venu.
